The Mission
San Francisco's Mission is only a couple of
blocks away from Neil & Mia's flat, so Mia
took us there staggering on our little jet-lagged
legs on our first day. |

Cable Cars
The queue for the cable car was almost as much
entertainment as the ride itself. A man was
holding forth on how we were all |
bound for hell, although coincidentally he
toned it down a bit when he noticed that the
queue shuffling slowly past him held a nun. |

Colma
Mia & Neil took us to Forest Lawn to look for
the grave of Emperor Norton, who claimed to be
Emperor of the US and Protector of Mexico. |
He printed his own currency & was quite a
celeb in his day. Much to our joy we found that
there was also a public mausoleum which was
nothing so much as a library of dead people. |

| Two weeks later we were trotting round in
balmy icecream weather in Castro Valley. Cousin
Brenda rang up from Yorkshire to say England was
covered in snow. |

 |
Warmer outside than in. Mia is wrapped up
because she'd come from cooler San Francisco. |

Here we see Susan going through the remains
of our provisions. And below is the mess we can
make in a week or two (or day or two) |

And below is Paul's place, and his flatmate
Aaron, and their fine collection of guitars. |

Below: Paul & Aaron took us on a walk
round the Lafayette reservoir, and we found this
"Xmas Tree" |
